8/30/07 Thur. On to Eungella National Park

So today was all about a road trip. We drove 7.5 hours from Mission Beach to Eungella National Park. The purpose of this visit to Eungella is to see Platypuses in their natural habitat. So far we have not been successful. We are however hoping we will be this afternoon before leaving. None the less, we arrived around 5:30pm and it was cold and cloudy. We did drive up to the river where these elusive platypuses allegedly are but did not see them. I think it was a bit too late. Anyway, our hotel was creepy. Marc likens it to a combination of the Bates Motel in the movie Psycho and the Texas Chain Saw Massacre, complete with a seven foot ogger wearing uggs, and a strange Asian woman who spoke to herself constantly. In any case we're not going to stay there again tonight.
