Fri. Oct. 8, 2010 Estancic, Santa Susana

We were picked up today at 9:30am to go to an estancia (farm) in the countryside. It took awhile to pick everyone up from the various hotels (it was a fairly large group) and to drive out there so we didn't arrive until about 12pm. We were greated with meat empanadas and wine. Marc thinks these were the best empanadas of all we've had. We then went for a quick carriage ride behind the horses. No real horse rides since we had Zach with us. We explored a bit. They had a little museum showing what the farm house used to look like. The was lunch...asada...a traditional mixed grill. They have these huge open flame grills where they cook various types of meat. It looked very good on the grill but unfortunately wasn't as tasty as it looked. They had a folk music and dance show during lunch. Marc was in a rare mood and actually went and danced with Zach. Zach was having a blast pounding his hands to the music and maybe even doing a bit dancing himself. After lunch was as gaucho skill demonstration. The gauchos are the traditional cowboys of argentina. This was very good. We boarded the bus and headed back to Buenos Aires arriving around 5:30. We walked back through the financial distract (on Florida) again looking at all the street vendors. We went for dinner at Chan Chan, a peruvian restaurant which seems to be popular in BA- very good. Marc was a little shy with eating too adventurously since he had "the runs" the night before and his tummy still wasn't feeling 100%. Zach went to bed by 10:30.
